Day 9 of Da Ride

Today’s ride was motivated by the thoughts of a bed at the tailend. After camping for three straight nights, it was decided to get a break in a hotel tonight to celebrate being in Sandpont, ID. That’s right, Idaho! The team crossed out of Washington this morning and travelled along the Pend Oreille River for the entire day. The weather outside for today’s 65 mile ride was delightful with tailwinds most of the day and a little bumpy ride! Captain Eugenia got the first flat tire of the trip on the front tire 8 miles out of Sandpoint. Fortunately the sag wagon was right there and Eric was able to change it right away! Tonight’s hotel is in close proximity to Lake Pend Oreille (Hanging ear or earring). Eric was a brave soul and actually went in the river last night-invigorating! Harry also spotted a beaver in the river after whipping Steve in two games of horseshoes. We are moving on to the second map of the Adventure Cycling Association which spans approximately 450 miles and covers the route between Sandpoint, ID and Cut Bank, Mt. The team was able to find a post office to send correspondence home to loved ones. We were also able to catch up with laundry, shopping, and get some well deserved rest. Tonight’s dinner looks to be a public barbeque along the lake which Harry noticed as we watched two young  kids using a rope to swing into the river.  We are looking forward to getting plate size pancakes for breakfast like we got in the Usk Grill this morning.
