Day 28 of Da Ride
July 31, 2008 by Harry.
It was another day for a team relay! After a thunderstorm last night, everyone stayed relatively dry thanks to Eric staking the tents and rainflies right before the storm went through. Today’s 175 mile ride went from Bagley to Proctor, MN. Captain Eugenia and Harry posted another century with Steve putting in the remainder of the miles. The wind was blowing in the right direction from the start of the day and the temperature and humidity was down from yesterday. It was time to say hi and bye to a whole list of things today: Lake Itasca, Cass County and Lake (pop. 860), the birthplace of Judy Garland, Paul Bunyan and his blue ox Babe in Bemidji, and Harry’s water bottles. It is almost time to say goodbye to Minnesota and Route 2 since we leave both of them tomorrow! We saw more fawns today along with some goats right along the side of the road. We are staying in the Spirit Mountain Campground tonight which overlooks the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin and has beautiful views of Lake Superior. We want to thank everyone for visiting our website and a shout out goes to everyone who has posted comments. They lift the spirit of the team and make for interesting dinner conversation. We are blessed to have such loyal supporters of the team!

Day 27 Of Da Ride
July 31, 2008 by Harry.
It was time for another relay day. The team rode 155 miles today from Lakota, ND to Bagley, MN. That’s right, MoPhotos has hit Minnesota! After passing through Michigan, ND early in the morning, Captain Eugenia and Harry crossed the state line before noon. We are in hunting country and did not get a $300 fine for bird cleaning in the hotel rooms last night. The weather was overcast for most of the day with a brief shower in the middle of the afternoon. Harry managed to get his third flat at the same time. We are in the land of lakes after leaving North Dakota, where the license plates remind you to discover the spirit. We saw sunflower fields for the first time and even managed to get a picture of same. We are camping on LeMond Lake and enjoying dinner from the barbeque of steak, sweet potatoes and vegetables. Captain Eugenia and Harry did a little sightseeing in their trip to Lake Itasca State Park to see the head waters of the Mississippi River.![]()
